New A2O is launched!

August 9th, 2012 | Design

It’s hard to believe that it was more than 7 years ago that we launched our original A2O label. The only change since its first introduction has been the addition of the words ‘Sobre Lias’ (aged on the lees) a couple of years ago……. until now. Although our first design has stood the test of time pretty well, we still thought that it might be time for a change. The only question was, how could we come up with something just as original?

I’m not sure exactly where the inspiration came from, but after several attempts, I eventually developed this new idea. Design has always been a bit of a hobby of mine, and I find it quite gratifying to try different things, and to watch an idea evolve into the finished label. Quite unusually, on this particular occasion, almost nothing was changed from my very first draft. (Where would I be without Photoshop?)

One final thing that I should explain is that the photo does not do the label justice. For example, all the red ink has been screen printed which gives a raised, three dimensional feel. This is complimented by using a textured paper that adds to the graphic look of the label.

We hope you like it.

Slogans

June 7th, 2012 | Marketing

I mentioned yesterday that I was trying to come up with a good slogan that we could use for our Bodega, so I had a quick look on the internet for a bit of inspiration – here are some of my favourites:

You can’t buy happiness but you can buy wine, and that’s kinda the same thing.

I do not get drunk – I get awesome.

A meal without wine is called breakfast.

Wine – how classy people get wasted.

Error! Windows cannot find the file. Would you like some wine instead?

And finally, the secret to enjoying a good bottle of wine. 1. Open the bottle and allow it to breathe. 2. If it doesn’t look like it’s breathing give it some mouth-to-mouth.

Angela Martin – as seen on TV!

January 13th, 2012 | Local News

As if I don’t already see enough of my dear wife on a day-to-day basis, she’s now appearing on my TV screen as well….

As I mentioned in an earlier post Angela appeared on our local Rias Baixas TV channel a few weeks ago. For those who cannot receive this channel (which is certainly the vast majority of you) simply click here to see the full 9 minute interview.

Obviously it is conducted entirely in Spanish, but if I can eventually get my head around the technology, I might attempt to add English subtitles at a later date. (At the speed my wife speaks that will require some very fast typing!) In the meantime, if you don’t speak Spanish, just sit back and enjoy a few nice shots of the bodega.
